Abrasive belts & non-woven abrasives.

Abrasive belts remove the burr from the part’s edge. This is usually the first step performed by the deburring machine. At the very end is surface finishing of the sheet metal, if desired. The associated non-woven abrasives deliver the necessary texture to the sheet metal. ARKU abrasive belts and non-woven abrasives are available in different designs. Ask us about the options that improve your deburring process by the choice of the ideal abrasive belts and non-woven abrasives.

FAQ

What different abrasive belts are available?

Once you have selected the appropriate dimensions, then grit type and size will define the different characteristics of the abrasive belt. For example, a coarser particle size delivers a higher grinding performance than fine grit. However, the type of grit also affects the “durability” of the abrasive belt. That is, the degree of the abrasive belt’s wear. Zirconia corundumfor example, is self-sharpening and thus has a longer life than an abrasive belt made of alumina.

Which kind of non-woven abrasive for which application?

The surface finishing possibilities of a deburring machine are limited. The units in deburring machines are not suitable for a targeted normalized finish that we know from steel service centers. Nevertheless, the sheet metal surface can be improved by an additional wide belt unit and its non-woven abrasives after deburring and edge rounding. Basically, the choice lies between two different non-woven fabrics. The choice of “grit” sets the roughness or texture of the surface. Hence, in common applications that are used in sheet metal processing, they are able to achieve the desired surfaces for further processing.
