Quality and sustainability ensured

From individual parts to complex assemblies, in thicknesses from 0.5 to 25 millimeters, in addition to steel also aluminum, copper, stainless steel or titanium - the team at W. Nusser works with every appearance of sheet metal. And this applies to the entire process chain; quality is the top priority in all operations: "We work with the most modern machines available," explains Managing Director Dr. Jörg Lauscher.

„When bending, work safety increases if the burr is removed beforehand. That's why we need a powerful machine here.“

- Dr. Jörg Lauscher, Managing Director W. Nusser

Deburring tasks were very distributed

Originally, different departments handled deburring in their own way. Some of the tasks were done by hand, some by machine, or even outsourced to a contract deburrer. But the importance of deburring is increasing: "In the meantime, 90 % of our parts are deburred because it is noted as such on the customer drawings," reports Norman Brill, who is responsible for production control at W. Nusser. In addition, the company could not explicitly offer edge rounding as a process step.

Deburring machine takes on a wide range of tasks

To further increase quality, the sheet metal specialist decided to purchase an EdgeBreaker® 3000 deburring machine. "We chose this machine because it covers many areas," says Brill. In addition, the machine works quickly because it deburrs from above and below at the same time.

Lauscher is especially enthusiastic about the future viability of the EdgeBreaker® 3000. ARKU has equipped the machine with an Ethernet connection and thus made it industry 4.0-capable. And Trumpf, as the manufacturer of the other machines at W. Nusser, has also released the EdgeBreaker® for its software. This means that the ARKU machine can also be smoothly integrated into production in the future.
